A day in Chongqing

I just wanted to write a few interesting things about our day yesterday that I though were fun.  We went walking around the city some more yesterday looking for a haicut for Connor, DVDs, and some other little things.  The haircut was a lot of fun, if you are into pointing, laughing, and punching things into the pocket translator.  Connor's haircut turned out really nice, and Andrea and I both had a great 30 minute shampoo, scalp massage, and shoulder massage for 10 RMB each (basically $1.50).  I would like to think I will be going back several more times this week, but we will see what JiJi has to say about that! :)  Andrea's hair was the hardest thing to communicate about because she really wanted them to use conditioner, but it was not coming accross right.  I finally had to grab a bottle of conditioner, pretend that I was dumping in on her head, and pointed to the sink.  They got the idea and Andrea's snarles came out.

 

Later in the afternoon we met our guide who will be taking us through the entire process today of getting JiJi.  We started the paperwork in the hotel room last night and then went out to dinner.  Our guide is Sophie and she is young, but very nice and very good at teaching us the language.  We like her.  And how cute is this little passport photo of JiJi?!!

 

After several signatures and a couple more written statements of why we want to adopt JiJi, we left for dinner. We started out going to a hot pot restaurant last night, but 90% of the options to put in our hotpot were either seafood that is not on Andrea's list of approved seafood :) or the innards of all kinds of stuff, which is not real high on my list of likes.  We apologized to Sophie but told her that we needed to go to another place to eat.  We ended up having a great dinner at another place and I inlcuded a picture of Andrea deciding on her food. 

 

Connor figured out a new sport, which was sliding on the tiles in the city center in the rain.  It was kind of like skim boarding without a board, but he was pretty good at it.

 

We are now changing rooms into a little bit bigger room for the same price to have space for the crib!  We are getting close now!  It is rainy again here today and Andrea said that it reminds her a lot of Seattle, but now we know why everything is so great on lush.
